한국영화의 평균 수익률이 마이너스라는 것은 영화 매니아들 뿐 아니라 일반인들도 잘 알고 있는 상식이 되어 버렸습니다. 스타들의 몸값 상승/특수효과의 중요성 등으로 제작비가 급상승한 것이 주요 원인이겠지만, 부가판권시장의 몰락으로 극장 수입에 올인해야 하는 기형적 상황으로 인해 초반 마켓팅에 승부를 거는 관행도 큰 몫을 담당했다는 생각이 듭니다. 제작비 뿐 아니라 마켓팅 비용에도 엄청난 거품이 생겨버렸다는 것이죠.
위에서 언급한 동아일보 기사에 따르면 충무로에서 저예산 영화에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다고 합니다. 물론 열악한 투자환경에 적응하기 위한 불가피한 선택이겠지만, 이러한 변화가 영화계에서 블로그 마켓팅에 대한 관심이 높아지는 계기가 되었으면 하는 바램입니다. 영화 총제작비 규모가 줄어들면 마켓팅 비용의 절감도 요구될 것이고, 대부분의 제작/배급/홍보사들은 보다 효율적인 마켓팅 수단을 찾는 노력을 할 테니까요.
문화부 뉴미디어산업팀이 지난 "올블로그 어워드 2007" 행사와 연계하여 미개봉영화의 시사회를 개최한 것도 영화계가 블로그 마켓팅의 가능성에 대해 관심을 갖는 계기를 만들기 위해서였습니다. 물론 한번의 시사회로는 한계가 있겠죠. 그래서, 2월말-3월 중에 미개봉영화의 프리미어시사회에 영화 분야 파워블로거들을 초청하는 행사를 시리즈로 만들어 볼까 합니다. 이와 함께, 영화 관련 팀블로그와 TNC의 도움을 받아 블로그를 통한 영화 마켓팅에 관한 포럼/세미나를 개최할 예정이구요. (이 일을 위해 TNC의 젊은 영님, 엽민님이 열심히 뛰고 계시고, 주요 영화 관련 팀블로그들이 함께 고민해 주고 계십니다.)
이러한 일련의 시도가 네이버/다음/소프트뱅크코리아가 주도하여 3월16일 개최할 예정인 "블로거 컨퍼런스"(약2,000명이 참가하는 대규모 행사)와 연계되어 홍보된다면, 나름대로 좋은 성과가 있지 않을까 기대해 봅니다.
